Job Description:Position entails working 19 hours a week in the Sports Information Office. The sports information graduate assistant is responsible for assisting the sports information director in a wide variety of responsibilities surrounding Waynesburg University’s 20 NCAA Division III varsity sports. The graduate assistant will report to the Sports information Director.
Duties include:
Writing press releases
Online release writing and updating the school’s athletic website, www.waynesburgsports.com
Media Guide and Gameday program production and other various athletic department promotional materials
In-game statistical compilation using the Stat Crew or NCAA statistical software system
Public address announcing
Assisting with home event management for all sports
Assisting in various other athletic activities
Interacting with student workers
Job Qualifications: All interested candidates will need to successfully enroll in a graduate program at Waynesburg University in order to be eligible for the assistantship. A bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communication or a sport-related field is required. Applicants should have solid writing and interpersonal communication skills, along with previous experience working with Stat Crew or NCAA statistical software for at least one of the following: baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and women’s lacrosse. In addition, the successful candidate should have experience working with desktop publishing software programs InDesign, Boxout and PhotoShop, along with Microsoft Word and Excel. Applicants should have experience in website maintenance and design along with promotion on social media platforms. An individual must be willing to work during home events, at night and on weekends and may be asked to travel from time-to-time.
