Public Records is built around exploring culture through sound and community-driven hospitality. The ethos joins high-fidelity sound, plant-based (vegan) food and drink, and earth-respecting practices under one roof — a neighborhood spot by day, a performance and listening space by night. The founders also cite the building's own history as a former public institution (the ASPCA's Kings County chapter) as a key inspiration for the project.

The Role
The host is the first and last impression of the venue. You own the door, the book, and the flow of the room — greeting guests, managing reservations and the waitlist, pacing seatings, and keeping the floor moving in coordination with bar and service staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Greet and seat guests warmly and efficiently; set the tone for the evening from the moment they arrive.
• Manage reservations, walk-ins, and the waitlist in Resy; maintain an accurate, up-to-date book.
• Run Toast for check management, guest counts, and coordination with the bar and service team.
• Efficiently plot the floor — map reservations and parties across the room to distribute covers, avoid bunched seatings, and maximize capacity.
• Control room flow and seating pace to balance capacity, turn times, and guest experience.
• Communicate clearly with bartenders, servers, barbacks, and management throughout service.
• Track and honor reservation notes, special requests, and VIP or recurring guests.
• Manage guest expectations on wait times with composure and honesty.
• Handle capacity, door, and occasional difficult-guest situations with professionalism and discretion.
• Support event and programming nights with adaptable setup and flow.
