LKID is currently seeking an Interior Design assistant with knowledge of the residential design industry. The best candidate will have a strong interest in interior design, and will have the skills and drive to work in a fast paced environment with varying needs each day. Applicants should be highly organized and detail-oriented, and be flexible to work on a variety of projects under the direction of the Principal. AutoCAD & Design Manager (or similar software) knowledge are ideal but not required.
This position with perform a variety of project tasks, which may include the following:
1. Working with the principal to develop design ideas.
2. Ability to work on projects of various scope, scale and price-point.
3. Drafting technical drawings using AutoCAD
4. Maintaining project binders with all related contacts, schedules, specs, drawings, etc.
5. Research and source furniture, lighting, fabrics, wallpaper and any relevant interior finishes.
6. Work with vendors to obtain cost estimates for project budgeting.
7. Attend meetings and take notes.
8. Use Design Manager to propose items to clients and manage orders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in interior design or architecture. Or related field.
- Knowledge of design principals and aesthetics
- Knowledge of residential furnishings and finishes at all price points
- Knowledge of NYC design resources
- Experience working with AutoCAD & Adobe Suite
- Experience with Design Manager software (ideal, but not required)
- Strong work ethic with a “can-do” and flexible attitude
- Tech and social media savvy, with a strong understanding of Instagram and other platforms
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Exact salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
