Summer Internship OpportunitiesAt Brewer-Garrett, our Interns work alongside our experienced Engineers, Project Managers, and Business Developers in the innovation, design, and implementation of creative solutions for our customers. Our Summer Internships are intended to be hands-on and skill-building to provide students with an in-depth understanding of designing and engineering electrical and mechanical systems, building controls automation, construction management, and energy engineering. To learn more about Brewer-Garrett, check out our website: Engineer Intern Learning ObjectivesThe Engineer Intern will work alongside Mechanical Engineers in our Solutions Group and will participate in the design and engineering of mechanical systems. The Intern will collaborate with our Engineers to identify and provide solutions to complex design projects.Training and Technology: Autocad/Revit Design software, Engineering practices, Procore, BG HVAC 101Mechanical Design: Participate in the initiation of conceptual designs and drawings, learn to make adjustment to drawings, calculations and specifications, and develop preliminary design solutions for prospective projects independently for review and feedback or collaboratively with the Engineering teamTeam Meetings: Observe and participate in team meetings and communicate with customersProject Engineering Coordination: Become familiar with a project's scope, engineering and budget, participate in collaborations with the design/construction team to meet the project's engineering and construction budget, and support the engineering and commissioning teams on assigned projectsCross-Functional Learning – Opportunities to learn about Project Management roles and Energy EngineeringQualificationsJunior and Senior status preferred; Sophomore status will be consideredExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with othersPositive attitude and enthusiasm to grow and strengthen skillsAdaptable and willing to learn new thingsTime-management, critical thinking, and writing skillsStrong computer skillsExpectationsBe inquisitiveDemonstrate integrityDevelop self-discipline to work with limited oversightDevelop leadership skills and confidence in your knowledge, skills, and abilities
