Job Summary: This position is the embodiment of hands-on stewardship at Westwind. As such, the Site Manager is expected to demonstrate Westwind’s mission, vision, and values through their work in both the process and the product. The care for and preservation of the land and infrastructure at Westwind is essential to our mission of preserving the site in perpetuity. The Site Manager is responsible for carrying out this mission daily.

Position Purpose: The Site Manager is responsible for all aspects of the management and day-to-day operations of Westwind’s site, facilities, and equipment, including managing the Site Assistant(s) and responding to emergent repairs and maintenance. Job Responsibilities:
● Manage Site Maintenance and Daily Operations
○ Perform daily, regular, seasonal, and annual tasks related to site, facilities, and equipment maintenance (outlined in the Site Operations and Maintenance Manual).
○ Monitor and maintain onsite essential systems, including water, septic, and electrical, in accordance with health and safety codes.
○ Maintain Westwind’s fleet of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, vans, tractors, ferries, and UTVs.
○ Perform emergent repairs and maintenance in a timely and professional manner.
○ Enforce Westwind’s policies regarding site use and development, vehicle and equipment use.
○ Manage the trash, recycling, and compost systems at camp.

● Maintain Safety and Standards
○ Attend to the safety and security of the Westwind site.
○ Work with the Operations Director to uphold and maintain necessary camp standards, including ACA, Coast Guard, and County Health and Safety.
○ Maintain documentation of maintenance records in accordance with the Operations and Maintenance Manual.

● Welcome and Facilitate Guest Arrival
○ Provide a warm sense of belonging and welcome for guests of diverse backgrounds.
○ Be knowledgeable and able to communicate about Westwind’s ethos, history, and the natural environment, including Westwind’s policies regarding wildlife and conservation.
○ Assist with the arrivals and departures of groups onsite, including organizing luggage transportation and assisting with check-in as needed.

● Supervision and Management
○ Hire, supervise, and support the Site Assistant(s).
○ Supervise and support site-related volunteer activities.
○ Mentor a variety of Westwind Summer Staff and Campers.
○ Schedule and monitor contractors related to site maintenance and operations.

● Support the Westwind Team
○ Work with the Westwind Program Staff to support Westwind Programs.
○ Support Capital Projects at Westwind by assisting with planning and facilitating contractors as needed.
○ Support the Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Staff in servicing and maintaining kitchen equipment.
○ Assist the Guest Services Manager with custodial duties.

● Other duties as assigned by the Operations Director.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
● Must live onsite at Westwind (2-bedroom house provided)
● Regularly available on weekends.
● Regularly available to be on call.
● Current First Aid and CPR or better.
● Valid Driver’s License.
● Familiar with word processing and email communications.
● Must be able to pass a mandatory criminal background check.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
● Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working with people.
● Ability to lift 80 lbs, dig, load, repair, clean, and walk considerable distances through sandy, steep, and rough terrain.
● Ability to drive a tractor and use heavy equipment and tools, including a chainsaw, weed wacker, and carpentry shop equipment.
● Prior facilities management experience and demonstrated knowledge and abilities in vehicle and boat maintenance, electrical work, carpentry, and plumbing.

Compensation: 55,000
