Job Description

Who We Are

SEATTLE ACADEMY (SAAS) is a dynamic community that challenges students to question, imagine, and create in order to contribute boldly to a changing world. We achieve this exciting mission as an independent school serving 6th – 12th grades located in an urban, Seattle environment.

The Opportunity

SAAS is looking for a creative, digitally savvy Social Media & Digital Content Coordinator to help tell the story of our vibrant school community. As a member of the Marketing and Communications team, you’ll be the day-to-day driver of our social media presence and a key contributor to digital content that brings the SAAS experience to life for current students and families, prospective students, alumni, and the broader community.

This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who is passionate about storytelling, visual content, and the energy of a school environment where students are constantly questioning, imagining, and creating. You’ll be embedded in the life of the school—capturing classroom moments, performances, athletics, outdoor adventures, and the everyday magic that makes SAAS unique.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Own the day-to-day management and content creation for SAAS social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo and emerging platforms
  • Maintain a social media content calendar that reflects the rhythm of school life—from performances and athletic competitions to community service projects and Summit events
  • Develop engaging, on-brand content (photos, short-form video, graphics, captions) that captures the spirit of SAAS and resonates with diverse audiences
  • Monitor and engage with followers, respond to comments and inquiries, and foster a positive online community in line with school best practices
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and best practices, bringing fresh ideas to amplify SAAS’s voice

Photography & Visual Content

  • In coordination with the Marketing Communications team, capture photos and videos at school events, performances, games, and daily school life for use across digital channels
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments—including Enrollment, Advancement, Athletics, and Arts—to source stories and content opportunities
  • Assist in organizing and managing the school’s digital photo library on Vidigami
  • Create simple graphic design assets (social media graphics, digital flyers, event promotions) that align with SAAS brand guidelines

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track and report on social media performance metrics (engagement, reach, follower growth) to inform content strategy
  • Monitor basic website analytics (Google Analytics) and contribute insights to improve digital communications
  • Assist in compiling reports that measure the effectiveness of digital content and campaigns

Digital Content & Website Support

  • In coordination with the Marketing Communications team, support maintenance and content updates of the SAAS website (Finalsite), partnering with departments across the school to keep information accurate and compelling
  • Assist in writing and editing web copy, blog posts, and feature stories that highlight student achievements, faculty perspectives, and school programs
  • Help optimize web content for search engines (SEO) and contribute to strategies that improve site traffic and engagement
Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • Curious, creative, and energized by the pace and purpose of a school community
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to recognize compelling moments on campus and turn them into engaging stories
  • Self-starter who balances independent initiative with genuine collaboration
  • Skilled at building authentic relationships across a school community to generate meaningful content
  • Strong sense of humor and positive presence within a dynamic environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Flexible and adaptable in the face of the unpredictable rhythm of a school day
  • Excited to contribute boldly to a changing world by helping tell the SAAS story
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, digital media, journalism, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience managing social media accounts for an organization, brand, or institution (internship experience counts!)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for storytelling
  • Proficiency across major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) and familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Later, Sprout Social)
  • Basic photography and videography skills; comfort shooting and editing content on a smartphone or camera
  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), or similar
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred
  • Experience in an education, nonprofit, or mission-driven environment
  • Basic understanding of SEO, Google Analytics, and email marketing platforms
  • Experience with video editing (iMovie, Adobe Premiere Rush, CapCut, or similar)
  • A genuine interest in working with adolescents and a school community
How to Apply:

The position is salaried (exempt) with a salary range of $83,000 to $95,000, depending on relative experience.  Successful candidates must be able to pass a fingerprint background check as a contingency of employment.  SAAS offers an excellent benefit package.
