Academic Support Center (ASC)
The Academic Support Center (ASC) is our innovative learning support program, designed as a 21st-century model to provide personalized, one-on-one nurturing support for students in need.
ASC Team
The ASC team consists of dedicated teachers and a Head of the Center who oversees the program’s overall operations. We also have access to outsourced therapists specializing in speech and language therapy and occupational therapy, available as needed. Our goal is to tailor the learning support program to each student’s specific needs, ensuring they can fully benefit from our school curriculum. Each student’s support level is determined upon application and reassessed every term.
Focused Learning Support
Early intervention is key. We aim to identify students who require learning support as early as possible, maximizing their individual capabilities using a strengths-based approach and fostering self-guided learning. This method empowers students with diverse abilities, providing an enriching learning experience rather than one that may feel intimidating or discouraging.
Learning Support Areas
We provide support for students experiencing:
- Neurodiversity: Including specific learning disorders such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, as well as neurodevelopmental differences like ADHD.
- Speech and Literacy Barriers: Addressing challenges in speech and literacy.
- Memory and Concentration Barriers: Assisting with issues related to memory and concentration.
ASC Values
- Diversity: We recognize that each learner is unique, with individual strengths, challenges, interests, abilities, and learning needs. Our educational program is differentiated to accommodate a spectrum of learning needs within available resources.
- Inclusivity: We support and celebrate diversity, equality, and a sense of collective belonging, ensuring every student feels secure and comfortable being themselves at our school.
- Progression: We acknowledge learning differences and strive to provide access, active participation, and advancement for all students. This is achieved through appropriate curricula, software, teaching strategies, learning support, and community resources and partnerships.
- Quality: We are committed to ongoing research, development, and improvement in the quality of support we provide.
- Collaboration: Our approach is collaborative, always prioritizing the best interests of each student.
